Workers' Compensation Consulting Services
Our primary goal at McMannus Law is to educate individuals and employers about how the workers' compensation system actually operates, so they can more effectively be part of the decision-making process and regain some level of control over an otherwise helpless feeling situation. From experience, we have learned that the majority of injured workers and many employers have little to no understanding or are completely misinformed about their rights and responsibilities. We pride ourselves on empowering those who have found themselves in the workers' compensation system and making a difficult situation a little more tolerable.
When you bump up against "no"s, you don't necessarily have to sit back and take it. We help you understand the insurance company and their attorneys, why they make certain choices and decisions, and why "no" may simply mean, "We aren't going to voluntarily give you what you or your doctor wants." You don't have to feel overmatched. We'll explore whether the "fight" is worth it and provide you with information to help you decide how you may want to move forward.
Let us help you decide if you need an attorney or just a little direction. The sooner you get answers, the better you'll feel. You don't have to be alone in this process.
Carol McMannus grew up in Hampden, Maine. Carol has been practicing law since 1992, when she started her own general practice in Gorham. She later graduated to a small firm in Freeport, and then in 1997 joined a firm in Portland where she began her workers' compensation career. For many years she represented insurance companies and employers, learning the ins and outs of a system, that while seeming to be straightforward, is anything but.
After putting on the employee representative hat in 2017, Carol learned the truth about people who are suffering from work injuries...they know very little about the system, let alone how to navigate it, and they are in desperate need of direction. She started spending more time helping people to understand the reality of their situation, so they would be better prepared to participate in determining their own path forward. She listened, and she's here to help.
That all depends. Sometimes you just need a little redirection and are able to proceed on your own. Other times you need or simply want ongoing legal support, because it's too much to take on yourself. We'll explore whether representation makes sense for you. The important part is that you, the person most affected by your injury, no longer feels alone, helpless, or totally confused.
Ask questions. Get answers. Feel better.
